Connecticut taxes spa services such as facials, wraps, peels, and scrubs, Ohio taxes skin care and massage, New Jersey taxes massage, and New York City taxes massage under its local sales tax. Medical spa services such as Botox injections and laser treatments may follow different rules in some states, straddling the medical services and retail categories. In New Jersey, retail products such as skincare are taxable even though facials, wraps, and scrubs are not.

Does the receipt support couples or group treatments?
Yes. Couples massages print with two therapist names and a shared room. Group packages (bachelorette, girls day) show each treatment per guest with a group total at the bottom.
How is a gift certificate purchase shown?
Gift certificate purchases print as a GIFT CERTIFICATE line with the certificate number and amount. When redeemed, a later receipt shows GIFT CERT REDEEMED as a negative amount that reduces the subtotal before tax.
How are treatment enhancements shown on a spa receipt?
Enhancements (hot stone add-on, scalp treatment, aromatherapy upgrade) print as individual lines after the main treatment line. Each shows the enhancement name, any additional duration, and price. Auto-gratuity calculates on the combined treatment and enhancement subtotal.
Can a spa receipt separate gratuity between therapist and front desk staff?
Standard spa receipts show a single gratuity line. Some spas use a split notation (e.g., THERAPIST GRATUITY and SPA GRATUITY) on detailed receipts. For spas with separate tip pools, enter the two gratuity lines separately. Distribution to staff is handled internally by the spa's POS system.
