Phone Bill Receipt Generator

Create phone bill receipts with per-line plan charges, device financing installments, data overages, and regulatory fees including E911, USF, and state surcharges. Supports multi-line accounts and business expense documentation. Free. PNG or PDF.

Phone bill receipts include the carrier name (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Visible), account number, billing period, line items per phone number, plan tier (unlimited talk/text/data), device payment installments, equipment protection plan, taxes and surcharges (Federal Universal Service Fund 11-34%, state and local 911 fees), and total. Average monthly bill is $50-$80 per line on a single plan and $35-$60 per line on family plans. Receipts are required for home-office tax deduction and proof of residence.

Why Phone Bills Have So Many Fees

Phone bills stack more line items than almost any other consumer bill. A typical two-line wireless account includes plan charges per line, device financing installments, potential data overages, a multi-line discount, an E911 fee per line, a USF surcharge, state and local wireless taxes, and a carrier-imposed regulatory recovery fee. Total taxes and fees typically add 15 to 25 percent above the advertised plan rate, which is why the bill total rarely matches the plan price shown in ads.

Device financing (paying for a phone in monthly installments) appears as a separate line from the service plan. The device payment is typically at 0% APR as long as service remains active with the carrier. Multi-line accounts receive a per-line discount that reduces each additional line below the first. For business users, a dedicated business line is fully deductible as a business expense; personal lines are deductible at the business-use percentage.

Phone Bill Receipt: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the E911 fee?

The Enhanced 911 fee (typically $0.50 to $3.00 per line per month) funds emergency call-tracking infrastructure in each state. It is a mandatory government-imposed fee and the amount varies by state. The template includes E911 as a separate regulatory line on the bill.

What is the USF surcharge?

The Universal Service Fund (USF) surcharge is a federal fee that funds telephone service subsidies for rural, low-income, and school customers. It is typically calculated as a percentage of interstate long-distance charges. The template calculates USF on the eligible portion of the bill.

How is device financing shown?

Phone device payments (for example, $33.34 per month for 30 months on a new smartphone) print as a separate device financing line. The financing is typically at 0% APR as long as service remains active. The template supports up to four devices per account.

Are phone bills taxable?

Phone bills carry federal, state, and local taxes plus multiple regulatory fees. Total taxes and fees typically run 15 to 25 percent above the plan charges. Wireless-specific taxes are higher than general sales tax in most states. The template applies the state-appropriate rate when configured.

Can I include international calling or roaming?

Yes. International calls print with destination country, minutes, and rate per minute. International roaming prints with data used and per-MB or per-day charges. The major carriers (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T) have different international rate structures, all supported by the template.

How are multi-line discounts shown?

Multi-line accounts (two or more lines) receive a per-line discount, typically $10 to $20 per line for each line after the first. The template prints the full plan charge per line and a discount line showing the multi-line savings so customers see both the gross and net charges.

Can I deduct my phone bill as a business expense?

Yes, for the portion used for business. Self-employed individuals can deduct the business-use percentage of their phone and service costs on Schedule C. Employees generally cannot deduct unreimbursed phone expenses since the 2017 tax law changes. For a dedicated business line, the full cost is deductible.

What is the regulatory recovery fee?

The regulatory recovery fee is a carrier-imposed charge (not a government mandate) that carriers pass through to customers to offset their costs of complying with government regulations. It differs from E911 and USF, which are government-mandated. Regulatory recovery fees vary by carrier and are often $0.20 to $1.50 per line per month.
